BRILYN'S PLAN TO BUILD
SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES

About Sustainable Communities
Many communities around the world are already working on sustainable plans, like Eden Mills in Ontario. It is time for Nova Scotia to get involved.

Sustainable  Communities

Eden Mills, Ont.

The efforts of these communities are commendable, however, we find that the methods being used are still short of what they could be.  No one else has been able to realize the full possibilities that are available for sustainability by combining all renewable resource technologies to work together as Brilyn has done.

Everyone is still looking for the "one and only" technology that will solve all our problems and they keep missing the point that the technologies are already here they just need to be set in proper order so they work together.

For Example:  Why spend a million dollars on one turbine windmill that generates 3 megawatts when you can spend the same money and build Brilyn's 6 megawatt power station that uses the three technologies of wind, solar and alternative fuel combined.  Using combined technologies solves the problems and also creates more jobs for more people.

Brilyn knows it is possible to build sustainable communities with the co-operation of the people who live there if they are supplied information, education, products and plans them and that is what Brilyn is all about.

As communities make these changes they begin to connect and share their sustainable solutions with other communities around the world.

Brilyn has invested over $200,000 and five years
on research and on developing solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by combining technologies and we are a key source to locating non toxic products to use in building and renovating homes.

Brilyn can show you how to combine the technologies of renewable resources such as sun, wind and alternative fuel made from food and plant waste to drive generators that make electricity for homes and industry and to power vehicles within the community.

BRILYN'S PLAN TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES....1, 2, 3, 4

commwind Overview
Brilyn's community plan begins by introducing solutions to provide the basic needs of the community such as clean power & heat, clean transportation and non toxic products and building materials.

fuelcellConsider Basic Community Needs

  • clean electrical power
  • clean trans portion, conversions for autos, marine, and air transport
  • clean oils and fluids for the automotive and marine industries
  • low voc paints for automotive and marine applications
  • non toxic paints, and construction materials
  • non toxic household cleaners and personal hygiene products
  • employment to earn income

thermosolarCommunities Need Income
The plan to build sustainable communities includes opportunities for residents earn income

There are opportunities for everyone from farmers, to manufacturers, to restaurant owners to skilled trades people, to general employees and investors.

With the community plan in place and the solutions and products built and available in the community, residents will have a choice of purchasing environmentally friendly means for utilities, products and services right in their own community.

Step One
Registration of A Community Co-op

coopThe first step in building a sustainable community is the registration of a Sustainable Community Co-op made up of at least 500 residents.

A registered Sustainable Community Co-op can provide ongoing cost benefits and legal rights to members, as they build on sustainable products like clean power generation, alternative fuels and different technologies that may enhance or replace toxic products being sold by other industries.

For example, a community can build a clean power generating station. The ultimate result would be that the clean power is sold to the existing power company and used by the residents which would be beneficial to the community and reduce emissions.

legalStrength In Numbers
If for some reason there was objection or interference by anyone to stop this from happening, then the Sustainable Community Co-op would have the financial strength, and the legal rights to make requests of the courts to ensure the existing power company buys and transports the clean power to the community.
There are laws in place in most countries to prohibit actions by companies trying to create monopolies.

A secondary option would be for the co-op to look at the legal possibilities of acquiring their own customer base and having the power transported to their customers through the existing grid infrastructure, much the same as different telephone and cable service providers using existing lines that were installed by other companies.

Co-op's Purchase Enviro Products At Wholesale Prices
A registered co-op is a business and has the ability to make quantity purchases from many manufacturers of environmentally friendly products at wholesale pricing.

These products give residents alternative choices which will help the community participate in the clean up of toxins in the environment.

Step Two:
Build A Sustainable Community Power Station

To build a clean alternative power station that provides benefit to a community and provides employment and future sustainability for residents, at a price that is the most cost effective, the power station should use a combination of different technologies as you will see in the following description of Brilyn's Community Power Station.

Here is a simple comparison of cost, value and benefits:

Brilyn's Sustainable Community Power Station

  • Uses wind, solar, engines, generators, alternative fuels and hydrogen fuel
  • Produces 6 Megawatts of Power
  • Cost: $1 million dollars
  • Benefits: Provides employment for many residents of various skills

Other Clean Power Alternatives Being Constructed by Government and Toxic Industries

  • One Turbine Windmill
  • Produces 1 Megawatt of Power
  • Cost: $1.5 million dollars and it produces only 1 megawatt of power.
  • Benefits:  Provides employment for turbine manufacturers

It would take 6 turbine windmills and $9 million dollars, to make as much power as one of Brilyn's Sustainable Community Power Stations.

If the community formed a Co-op with 500 members and each member contributed $2,000, there would be enough funds to build one Sustainable Community Power Station.

Description of Brilyn's Sustainable
Community Power Station

Brilyn's power station produces 6 megawatts of renewable power using wind, solar, internal combustion engines, generators, alternative fuel refineries and a hydrogen fuel refinery.

Here Is How The Technologies Work Together To Make Electricity

  • The wind and solar provide power to operate the refineries
  • The refineries turn the renewable resources into alternative fuels.
  • Alternative fuels are used to power internal combustion engines
  • Internal combustion engines drive a series of generators up to 6 megawatts
  • The generators produce the clean, steady electrical power.

The alternative fuels used are butanol, ethanol and biofuels and they are produced from renewable resources within the community such as waste products, used fats from restaurants, compost, canola, corn stover, straw and plant matter leftover from food growing farms.

These resources can be collected from local farmers, waste collection companies, restaurants, and residents.

The inclusion of a hydrogen fuel refinery is to reduce the cost of obtaining the renewable resources to make the fuel that creates the electricity.

The water used to produce the hydrogen fuel can be collected from wells drilled below the water tables, from flooded areas and snow pileups after storm disasters.

Hydrogen Refinery Provides Fuel For

  • Farm equipment to grow resources to make fuels
  • Large transport trucks used to haul the resources
  • Construction equipment, backhoes, dump trucks
  • Fuel for airplanes, buses and community passenger vehicles

Brilyn has another solution that uses Hydrogen Fuel from these power stations, and this solution can be implemented by communities world wide for planet restoration.

Estimated Operating Costs of Power Station

Staffing
This power station would operate on a 24 hour basis and would need a minimum shift of 12 maintenance employees and two administrative staff to operate the facility.

Shifts would be shared and  a 5 person staff would be on site each hour of the day.

Hourly Cost
$25/hr times 5 staff = $125/hr

Daily Cost
$125/hr times 24 hours = $3000.00 per day

Yearly Cost
Total Cost per year for Staff with Administrators:  $1,095,000

Other Cost Considerations
Security, occasional outside contractors, equipment repair or maintenance, taxes, legal fees, insurance.

Total Yearly Cost for staff and administrators plus general operating expenses combined could realistically be estimated at $2,000,000 per year.

Revenue Potential
There are numerous opportunities for revenue from this power station that produces electricity and alternative fuel, but when simply looking at the sale of electricity we can surmise two potentials.

1.  Sell Power To The Local Power Company At Commercial Rates
Ideally the power generated could be sold to the local power company for about ..06 cents per kilowatt.

6,000 kw per hour  x .06 cents/kw = $360 per hour
8760 hours per year x  $360 per hour  = $3,153,600 per year

This is the current rate being offered by Nova Scotia Power for power from renewable resources.

For example, Scotian Windfields projects and those of several others obtained contracts to sell their power for a fixed price ($0.06/kWh) .....

2.  Sell Power Directly To Homeowners
It has been estimated that the average homeowner spends about $2000 per year on electricity bills. A power station generating 6,000 kw per hour could provide power to an estimated 3000 homes.

$2000 per year x 3000 homes = $6,000,000 per year

Profit
No matter which way you look at it, the profit potential from operations of this power station are positive and there is more profit to consider from the sale of alternative fuels and hydrogen fuel being produced.

If you include the prospect of creating a totally sustainable community as the outcome to this project and the benefit of a cleaner healthier environment, there is more profit to realize than just monetary gain.

Disclaimer
The information, prices and calculations in this document for the sustainable community power station have been determined by Brilyn and they are estimates as close as possible based on research of material published by others. Since this project is a "first of it's kind", some estimates may need to be adjusted as the station is constructed.

Step Three:
Conversion of Community Vehicles

When the community has the power station operating, and the hydrogen powered vehicles and airplanes are beginning to work on the planet restoration project to reduce carbon particulates in the atmosphere,  the community can begin eliminating fossil fuel usage in daily transportation vehicles.

The power station will be producing butanol, ethanol, biofuel, hydrogen and electricity so the choices for converting a vehicle to run on something other than fossil fuel are many.  Butanol is a good immediate solution since it can be used in a combustion engine vehicle without modification.

Step Four:
Elimination of Other Toxic Products

As the fossil fuel use is being replaced by alternative solutions, we can focus more on taking control of the disposal and eliminating the use of other toxic products such as cleaning supplies, cosmetic and personal products, plastic, and others.

Conclusion
Brilyn has other solutions to environmental problems and we are continuing to put them to written documents such as this one.  If you have a concern or question, or if your community is looking for a particular solution, please feel free to contact us.  Becoming a member of Brilyn's Co-op give you all the access you need to information.
